1Password Introduces Location-Based Access for Your Items

1Password, the popular password management app, has announced an exciting new feature that makes accessing your saved items even easier. With the addition of location-based functionality, you can now view specific logins, passwords, alarm codes, PINs, and more based on where you are.

How Does It Work?

You can assign physical locations to items stored in your 1Password vault. When you’re near those locations, the relevant items will automatically appear in the 1Password app on your iPhone.

For instance:

  • Store your work-related passwords and have them surface automatically when you’re at the office.
  • Automatically show your Starbucks Rewards number when you’re at a Starbucks location.
  • Have your medical record number ready to go when you’re at the doctor’s office.

It’s a simple way to keep your most relevant items front and center without having to search through your vault.

How to Add Locations

Assigning a location to an item is easy:

  1. Edit the item in your 1Password vault.
  2. Select the new “Add a Location” option.

Rest assured, 1Password emphasizes that all location data is handled securely. Like everything in the app, location information is not shared, stored, or tracked. All data is checked locally, and your current location coordinates remain on your device at all times.

Pricing

1Password offers affordable plans:

  • Individual plan: $2.99/month
  • Family plan: $4.99/month (requires a 12-month subscription)

Business plans are also available for teams and organizations.

This new feature is designed to make managing your passwords and other sensitive information even more seamless and convenient. Ready to give it a try? Let us know what you think about this update!
