Windows 11 November Patch Day Brings These New Features

Microsoft introduced an important change in spring: function updates are no longer only available with the annual Windows version updates, but also with the optional updates and on the patch day. We’ll see what’s new for Patch Day in October.

Microsoft is now basically releasing important innovations and optimizations at any time, but always together with security and maintenance updates. The new cycle provides that new features are initially launched with monthly optional updates. Then every user can choose whether he wants to try out the new features or not.

On the regular Patch Day on the second Tuesday of the month, all the content of the optional update will also be distributed to other users. According to Microsoft, however, it is not planned to release the new functions to all users at once, but only gradually.

New! It adds improvements to the Microsoft account interface in Settings. For example, you can manage your Microsoft OneDrive subscription and related storage alerts.

It stops the start of daylight saving time in Jordan at the end of October 2022. The Jordan time zone will be permanently shifted to the UTC+3 time zone.
Addresses an issue affecting Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) authentication hardening. It automatically raises the authentication level for all non-anonymous activation requests from DCOM clients to RPC_C_AUTHN_LEVEL_PKT_INTEGRITY. This occurs when the authentication level is below packet integrity.
We fix an issue affecting the Windows Search service. Indexing progress is slow when using the service.
Addresses an issue affecting cached security key credentials and FIDO2 (Fast Identity Online 2.0) authentications. On devices joined to hybrid domains, the system removes these cached credentials.
Addresses an issue that may affect some types of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) connections. Handshake errors can occur with these connections. For developers, the affected connections are likely to send multiple frames followed by a subframe less than 5 bytes in size within a single input buffer. If the connection fails, your app will receive the “SEC_E_ILLEGAL_MESSAGE” error.
Addresses an issue affecting the Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD) Application Proxy Connector. Cannot get a Kerberos ticket on behalf of the user. The error message is: “The specified handle is invalid (0x80090301).”
An issue affecting certificate mapping is fixed. When an error occurs, lsass.exe may stop working in schannel.dll.
It fixes an issue affecting Microsoft Edge when it’s in IE mode. The pop-up window and tab titles are incorrect.
It fixes an issue affecting Microsoft Edge IE mode. It prevents you from opening websites. This occurs when you enable Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG) and do not configure network isolation policies.
Fixes an issue affecting title bars when you use third-party tools to customize them. The title bars were not rendered. This update ensures that title bars are rendered; However, we cannot guarantee that all text customizations will work as before.
Fixes an issue that may cause vertical and horizontal line artifacts to appear on the screen.
Addresses an issue affecting Microsoft and third-party input method editors (IMEs). They stop working when you close the IME window. This happens when the IME uses Windows Text Services Framework (TSF) 1.0.
We fix an issue where audio playback might fail to sync when you record the game using Xbox Game Bar.

It extends Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) control to enforce Hypervisor Protected Code Integrity (HVCI) for targeted hardware configurations.
Addressing an issue affecting Explorer. It’s less reliable when looking for Microsoft OneDrive folders.
Fixed an issue affecting the BS_PUSHLIKE button style. Buttons with this style are difficult to identify against a dark background.
Addresses an issue in that prevents the credential UI from appearing in IE mode when using Microsoft Edge.
Addressing an issue affecting Server Manager. The wrong disk may be rolled back if multiple disks have the same UniqueId. For more information, see KB5018898.
It fixes an issue affecting the CopyFile function. It returns ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE instead of ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND when called with an invalid source file.
It fixes an issue affecting the Start menu. It stops working when you use keyboard shortcuts to move pinned items to a folder at the end of a list.
