With Inworld, Microsoft Xbox is introducing GenAI to games

GenAI is slowly and gradually penetrating every segment of the tech industry. in this short piece, we will uncover some information about a new partnership between Microsoft and Inworld that will result in the development of two GenAI tools. Notably, the two new tools will be dedicated to game creators. These include an “AI design copilot” and an “AI character runtime engine”.

The AI design copilot helps the creator explore new ideas by using the prompts in the form of scripts, quests, and more. In this way, game creators will be able to come forward with more creative ideas since it can be time as well as cost-effective. In simple words, it will operate similarly to ChatGPT since it will give creators different ideas relevant to a topic.

The AI character runtime engine will help creators with implementing GenAI in games. It will give gamers access to “completely new narratives with dynamically generated stories, quests, and dialogue.” Essentially, this technique allows a game to adjust in real-time to the player’s choices and actions, hence increasing the replay value.

Reportedly, these tools can be used to create games for any platform. The company declared that it would extend its partnership with Xbox and third-party studios to innovate and improve these tools. On November 17, 2023, at the G-Star Korea event, Inworld will share details about the two new tools.

The two businesses claim that these tools will make use of “Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud-based AI solutions including Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft Research’s technical insights into the future of play, and Team Xbox’s strengths” in addition to “Inworld’s expertise in working with generative AI models for character development.” They claim that their collaboration will contribute to the “revolutionization of responsible and accessible creator tools for all developers.”
