Google announces an extension of the deadline for Bluetooth Stadia controllers

The tech giant Google has extended the deadline to convert Stadia controllers to Bluetooth. Finally, it is a relief for those users who haven’t done it yet. Google gave its Stadia controllers new life by adding a Bluetooth mode before announcing the closure of Stadia. As a result, the gadget would work with PCs, phones, and other gaming platforms.

However, in order to activate Bluetooth mode, you need to connect your controller to a computer and use the web application provided by Google. In the past, the company announced that users should convert their hardware to Bluetooth mode before December 31, 2023. As of now, the company has extended the deadline for the conversion. In accordance with the information provided on the Stadia website, the deadline has been extended until December 31, 2024.

If you are thinking that it would be quite complicated to convert hardware to Bluetooth mode, then you are wrong since it is quite a simple process. Users are provided with step-wise details on how to convert it. Once the process is completed, the controller begins operating on Bluetooth Low Energy connections. One thing to notice here is that the change is irreversible. Once the conversion is done, the Wi-Fi connectivity features like wireless passthrough audio will be lost. Well, it is not that bad to lose those features rather than the controller.

You can verify whether your controller has the most recent Bluetooth patch if you can’t recall if you followed this step. You can accomplish this by visiting the Stadia website and connecting the controller to a PC.
