The Vision Pro App Store Won’t Offer YouTube and Spotify
As we are approaching the launch of Vision Pro headset more information regarding the compatible apps on the headset is coming out. According to a new report from Bloomberg, there will be no Vision Pro app for YouTube and Spotify. Reportedly, YouTube and Spotify are not working on an app for the Vision Pro app. Furthermore, YouTube claimed that its iPad app wouldn’t be allowed to run on the headset. The same goes for Spotify. The two apps mentioned above, along with Netflix, will be accessible through Safari on the headset.
Earlier this week, Netflix shared that it won’t introduce a dedicated app for headsets; instead, users can watch Netflix content via the Vision Pro web browser. Given the nature of the relationship between Apple and Spotify, it was expected. Perhaps companies are relying on a wait-and-see policy since the headset is quite expensive. There is a possibility that there will be fewer Vision Pro headset users as compared to iPhone and iPad users. For this reason, companies want to be careful with their prospective investments.
Recently, we shared the list of apps that will be available on the Vision Pro headset. Disney+ and Max will be accessible on the headset compared to YouTube and Netflix. Perhaps we will get dedicated YouTube and Netflix apps in the future, given the success of the headset. Earlier this week, Apple launched the Vision Pro App Store. The App Store pages feature the compatibility of the app with VisionOS. According to details, several famous apps like Snapchat, Amazon, Google, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Gmail are currently unavailable on the headset.
Developers have the option to prevent their iPad apps from appearing on Vision Pro, even if they are available on the device by default. Though they have disabled iPad app access and have not yet released dedicated Vision Pro apps, it is unclear if the popular apps mentioned above are completely opting out of the Vision Pro.
