Windows 11 26H1: ARM version gets its own beta channel for insiders

Microsoft has announced the introduction of a new beta channel for Windows 11 version 26H1, which explicitly only wants to serve devices with the new ARM processors from Nvidia and Qualcomm.
Dedicated beta channel for ARM specific version 26H1
With the introduction of the first devices based on Nvidia’s new ARM platforms from the RTX Spark series planned in the coming months, the range of systems with ARM CPUs will grow beyond the previously available Snapdragon X2 chips from Qualcomm. In order to better supply these devices with pre-release versions of Windows 11, a new beta channel for version 26H1 is now being introduced. As Microsoft has now announced the new beta channel is now starting for devices with Windows 11 version 26H1 in order to be able to test experimental features and features that are in the beta phase separately – just as is already the case with Windows 11 25H2. For the first time, there is a beta channel in the Insider program that is fully compatible with devices based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 and Nvidia RTX Spark chips.
So far only experimental builds for ARM PCs
Previously, a beta channel was only offered for Windows 11 25H2 as part of the Insider program. This allows interested testers to try out innovations in advance without using the early versions of the features in the experimental channel. Devices with Windows 11 26H1 were previously only provided with pre-release versions via the experimental channel, but could not switch to the beta channel for this edition of the operating system. He simply didn’t exist. The background is that Microsoft offers Windows 11 version 26H1 exclusively for ARM systems, while x86/x64 systems receive preliminary versions of Windows 11 25H2 in parallel, because version 26H1 is used exclusively to advance support for ARM-based PCs based on the two processor series mentioned. With the expansion of the insider program around Windows 11 version 26H1 for ARM systems through the beta channel, insider testers have more choice Of course, the prerequisite is that you have an appropriate ARM-based PC.
The difference between the Experimental and Beta channels for version 26H1 is the same as version 25H2. In the experimental channel, changes and new functions are tested very early in the development phase and made available to the first testers. The fact that the features are included in experimental builds does not mean that they will also make it into the final versions of Windows 11. In the beta channel, the innovations available for testing are already more mature and are definitely on the way to being integrated into the “finished” versions of Windows.
