AMD confirms issues with FSR driver 26.6.2 on many Windows PCs

The new AMD graphics driver 26.6.2 with FSR 4.1 is actually supposed to bring noticeable performance gains and improvements for current games. But for many Windows 10 users, the update is becoming a problem.
Some users encounter unforeseen problems
The new version 26.6.2 brings important improvements, including support for the FSR 4.1 graphics technology and optimizations for current games. At the same time, however, reports of problems are increasing – especially on systems with Windows 10. According to AMD, it may happen that the new driver software cannot be started at all after installation. Instead, users see an error message indicating an alleged incompatibility between the software and graphics driver.
At first glance it seems as if the installed version does not fit the system. Another typical sign of the problem can be seen in the Windows Device Manager. A yellow warning symbol appears next to the graphics card on affected computers. This “yellow exclamation mark” signals that Windows cannot load or use the driver correctly.
Affected systems
PCs with Windows 10 are particularly affected, although the driver is also officially released for newer versions of this operating system. Under Windows 11, however, the difficulties seem to occur much less often. AMD has now confirmed the error and says it is working on a solution. Until a corrected update is available, the manufacturer recommends a pragmatic solution. Users should temporarily revert to the previous driver version 26.6.1. This is considered stable and avoids the current startup problems.
Our engineers are currently investigating this issue and will provide a solution when available. Affected users can temporarily access AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1. For download and installation instructions, see the AMD software release notes: Adrenaline Edition 26.6.1. AMD driver support
However, this also means restrictions for players. Some new titles and updates that should actually be supported with version 26.6.2 cannot be used optimally for the time being. If you need maximum stability, you should still choose the older version.
