Samsung Introduces Faster And Efficient Memory LPDDR5X DRAM
16 GB LPDDR5X DRAM: This long string marks a great success for Samsung. As the company announced, the first LPDDR5X DRAM module in the industry can now be announced. That is significantly faster and less energy-hungry than its predecessor.
New memory module: faster, more efficient, more capacity
Samsung likes to draw attention to itself loudly when developing memory modules, and now there is another good reason to do so. The company is proud to announce that it has developed the industry’s first 16-Gigabit Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM based on 14-nanometers. The objective aimed at by the developers: high-speed data applications such as 5G, artificial intelligence, and the metaverse.
Samsung also provides a direct comparison with the predecessor LPDDR5 for the introduction. LPDDR5X-DRAM offers data processing speeds of up to 8.5 gigabits per second and can do its job around 1.3 times faster than the previous generation. The use of advanced 14-nanometer architecture is also said to have reduced the hunger for energy by 20 percent compared to the previous model. The 16 GB LPDDR5X chip also enables up to 64 gigabytes per memory package, which takes into account the ever-increasing demand for higher RAM capacities.
From Servers To Cars
“In recent years, hyper-connected market segments such as AI, Augmented Reality (AR) and the Metaverse, which rely on extremely fast, large-scale computing, has grown rapidly,” said SangJoon Hwang, senior vice president and head of the DRAM design team at Samsung Electronics.
As the manager in charge emphasizes, the RAM modules are moving further and further beyond the boundaries of the smartphone market: “Our LPDDR5X will expand the use of high-performance memory with low power consumption beyond smartphones and open up new possibilities for AI-based edge- Applications such as servers and even automobiles offer. “
