A few well-known Galaxy Devices won’t receive One UI 6.0 (Android 14)

Technology is advancing so rapidly that no device or tech lasts forever. There comes a time when certain devices, gadgets, or services need to be abandoned. However, several tech companies continue to provide firmware support to their devices. The support is provided for a definite period of time after which the devices stop receiving the upgrades.

When it comes to the South Korean tech company Samsung, has a policy to provide updates for its devices for two to three years. recently, the company upgraded its policy and extended the support for some devices up to four years. in brief, devices like the Galaxy S21 series (including the S21 FE) and every S flagship introduced after 2021 are eligible for four OS updates. The same rule applies to the A series i.e., Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A73, and later models.

Some familiar Galaxy phones and tablets won’t receive the One UI 6.0 updates

For the following devices [smartphones and tablets] Android 13 will be the last major OS update. These devices are not eligible for the One UI 6.0 updates. However, they will receive the security update in some time. These devices are as follows:

• Galaxy S10 Lite
• Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra
• Galaxy Note 10 Lite
• Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
• Galaxy Z Flip LTE, Galaxy Z Flip 5G
• Galaxy Z Fold 2
• Galaxy A22 LTE, Galaxy A22 5G
• Galaxy A32 LTE, Galaxy A32 5G
• Galaxy A51, Galaxy A71
• Galaxy Tab A8, Galaxy Tab A7 Lite
• Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
• Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Tab S7+

The company has not indicated when the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update will be released. However, if we consider the pattern with the Android 13 updates, the next major OS upgrade should release before the end of 2023. The latest devices i.e., Galaxy S23 series will be eligible for Android 14 and One UI 6.0 updates. Besides this series, older S-series flagships as well as the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will also receive the Android 14 updates. The foldable smartphones could feature One UI 5.1.1.
