A new report suggests that iOS 17 could be a bigger update

Tech company Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 in the upcoming months. Some previous reports suggested that iOS 17 could be a minor update. It could be accompanied by some major changes. However, some recent pieces of information indicate that iOS 17 is going to be a bigger update.

The previous report regarding iOS 17 update was shared by Mark Gurman in January 2023. According to him, the new update could accompany a few major changes. Well, now, in his newsletter, Gurman reports that the update won’t merely be restricted to bug fixes. It will include some nice-to-have features.

Mark Gurman also notes that the update could miss a tentpole upgrade like the redesigned lock screen introduced in 2022. But he expects that users will get more improvements. Well, if we look at the previous of the company, it is evident that Apple is not fond of introducing things with a lot of changes given the updates. However, the company took a major step forward with iOS 16 update last year. It introduced the redesigned lock screen, live activities, and various other features. These features impacted the system’s stability.

Well, besides the company, Apple users seem not to be used to such modifications. For this reason, it was anticipated that Apple could revamp its strategy for iOS 17. However, we could see some major and notable changes with iOS 17.

The new update will be released in June

Sources suggest that the new update has been named Dawn. Actually, it was reported by Mark Gurman back in January. With the latest updates, we can anticipate modifications in iMessage as well as the capacity of sideloading. Apple might introduce the iOS 17 updates at WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) scheduled for June 5. On the other hand, the update could start rolling out in September.
