A step-by-step guide to enable the More Frequent Updates for Live Activities on iOS 16.2

One of the neat under-the-radar features making its way to iPhone with iOS 16.2 is the capacity to customize Live Activities for More Frequent Updates. In reality, this feature is quite valuable, but still, you won’t wish it to be turned on for the apps.

The feature was initially uncovered by Filipe [@9to5Mac]. It was unveiled to him as the new Live Activities customization followed by the initial release of iOS 16.2 beta.

Given the iOS 16.2 RC and public release, it is expected to make its official appearance. You can switch on Live Activities “More Frequent Updates” on your iPhone.

Where Apple describes it as enabling more frequent updates to permit the user to view more real-time information. However, it can drain the battery at faster rates.

Follow the given steps to enable Live Activities and more frequent updates on iPhone

  • Make sure your device is equipped with iOS 16.2 or in another case download the free beta.
  • Access the Settings app on your iPhone
  • Scroll down and select the app with Live Activities support
  • Select Live activities
  • Click on the button next to More Frequent Updates

One important thing to note here is that this feature can drain your iPhone’s battery at faster rates. Therefore, choose the apps wisely you wish to turn on with the given feature. Given the iOS 16.2 RC, More Frequent Updates can be turned on by default for Apple’s TV app.
