According to a tipster, Dimensity 9300 will feature powerful cores
Just recently, ARM introduced the high-power Cortex-X4. It is dedicated to mobile processors. It is introduced alongside two other cores i.e., Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 cores. Given this recent development by ARM, MediaTek announced that its upcoming Dimensity flagship 5G SoC will be based on X4 and A720. It will also include the Immortalis-G720 GPU. However, the company has not shared any word regarding the A520 core.
This information from MediaTek was further explained by a tipster named Digital Chat Station. The tipster used their Weibo account to explain the matter. According to Digital Chat Station, the chipset doesn’t include Cortex-A520 in the SoC. The upcoming Dimensity 9300 by MediaTek will be an octa-core CPU. It will be based on 4x Cortex-X4 + 4X Cortex-A720 architecture.
In addition to this, the chip will be manufactured on the N4P process. NP4 process is a superior 4 nm next-gen solution. It provides significant improvements in power as well as performance. In other words, it is better than the N5 and N4 processes.
Furthermore, the tipster claims that the Dimensity 9300 would be a direct competitor to the Apple A17 Bionic. It has the capacity to decrease power consumption by 50%, in contrast to “the previous generation”. There are fewer chances that the Dimensity 9300 will follow the 1+5+2 configuration.
On the other hand, we can expect a revolution in chipset development if MediaTek is trying to introduce four super cores in its CPU. We are holding off on getting too enthused just yet about such audacious claims and will wait until the real products are available.
