According to reports, the Huawei P70’s cameras will make use of an internal image sensor

The new flagship Huawei P60 series was a big success for Huawei. The company debuted the new flagship smartphones with an in-house Kirin chipset. Notably, the P60 series features 5G-enabled HiSilicon Kirin chipsets. According to some recent information, the company might replace another chip with an in-house design. Reportedly, the company will use an in-house image sensor in its future flagship series.

For quite some time now, the company has been using Sony sensors in its smartphones. Huawei’s smartphones feature two yellow sub-pixels in contrast to greens. According to the information shared by the tipster, Fixed Focus Digital, the company has not refreshed its contract with Sony. Furthermore, the company has no more Sony sensors in its inventory.

Such information suggests that the company might use in-house image sensors in the upcoming P70 series. Just recently, the partnership between Huawei and Leica ended. For this reason, the company replaced another component of the camera system of its smartphones. Huawei unveiled the XMAGE platform, which has a custom NPU.

In addition to this, the company is also working on a new optical fingerprint reader that will be used in the P70 series. No such news has been officially confirmed by the company as yet. However, the P70 series might debut with an in-house design early next year. Huawei was forced, rather against its will, to develop substitutes for parts that it had previously imported. The P70 series seems to take that to the highest possible level.
