After a halt in the import ban, Apple is once again selling its disputed Watch models
The firm is once again offering the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 wearables for purchase. After a federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. granted a temporary delay on an import and sales ban yesterday, we were aware that this would happen. When the International Trade Commission (ITC) decides on whether to give Apple a longer reprieve, the ban may be reimposed on January 10.
It might also resurface on January 13, when Apple’s decision about the redesign of both smartwatches is made by the same agency. All in all, the embargo lasted just over a day and mostly affected customers who bought directly from Apple because third-party sellers had easy access to the gadgets.
“We’re happy the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has stayed the exclusion order while it considers our request to stay the order pending our full appeal,” Apple stated in an interview with Engadget. The lawsuit by the medical technology company Masimo, which claims that the blood oxygen sensors in the more recent Apple Watch models are in violation of two patents, is at the center of the controversy. Additionally, the business charged Apple with employee poaching and trade secret theft.
After the ITC sided with Masimo, Apple hurried to provide a software update. Apple was forced to start again once it was determined that the problem stemmed from a hardware problem with the sensor itself. By January 13, a revised blood oxygen sensor should be unveiled. Since the affordable Apple Watch SE lacks a blood oxygen sensor, it was never brought up in this conversation.
Apple has maintained for a long time that the prohibition would hurt the business “irreparably.” Thus, according to Bloomberg, Apple’s Watch division brings in about $17 billion annually. We will provide you with updates as this case develops. While you still have the chance, get the highly regarded Apple Watch Series 9.
