Microsoft has decided to discontinue a relatively new feature in Windows 11. The Suggested Actions, which were only introduced in 2022, are now on the deprecated features list and will be removed in a future update.
The feature should help users perform certain actions more quickly. If you marked or copied a telephone number or a date, a context menu with suggestions appeared. For a phone number, Windows 11 offered to start a call, while for a date, it showed the option to create a calendar event. The function does not seem to have met with the expected reception among users.
Experts suspect that too few people actually used the feature. In addition, it often did not work reliably Windows Latest reported. Many users noticed that the suggestions either didn’t appear at all or appeared in the wrong places. The function was only available outside North America to participants in the Windows Insider program. For many users around the world, the feature was not available at all. Nevertheless, the idea behind it was found to be quite practical in the community.
Microsoft is already planning a replacement for Suggested Actions. Loud TechRadar A new, AI-driven tool called “Click to Do” is said to offer similar functionality. However, this new feature will only be available on newer Copilot+ PCs that have the necessary hardware for AI functions.
Users of older or “normal” devices with classic Intel and AMD technology will initially have to make do without a comparable function after the “Suggested Actions” have been removed.
The removal of “Suggested Actions” is part of a larger trend. Microsoft has removed a total of 16 different features from Windows 11 in 2023 alone. This shows the company’s desire to streamline the operating system and free it from little-used features. Windows 11 should become more efficient and user-friendly.
