All information about the Microsoft March Patch Day for Windows 10

Microsoft opened March Patch Day and released new updates for all versions of Windows. In addition to patches for the current Windows 10 versions, there are updates for their predecessors. You can find everything about the patch for Windows 11 in a separate post. The updates are recommended to all users as they close security vulnerabilities and introduce improvements. Microsoft lists all changes and available variants for desktop, server, or HoloLens in the Windows 10 update history and has published the associated Knowledge Base articles. We have collected the available updates, detailed information about the updates is not yet available, we will provide them as soon as they are available. New updates are available for the following Windows versions:

Security-Related Changes

Microsoft has been combining the latest Operating System Servicing Stack Update (SSU) with the latest Cumulative Update (LCU) since May. Prerequisite for this – i.e. no individual SSU needs to be installed beforehand – in the May 11, 2021, Patch Day update, which implemented the change. Anyone using an older LCU update must first run the separately offered SSU updates. A little tip: At the start of the release, the KB articles may not be directly accessible from Microsoft. Security Updates Windows 10 Version 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, 2004

The latest Windows 10 November 2021 Update (21H2) has received a new security patch. The new building number is 19044.1586. Users who have yet to install the May 2021 Update or the October 2020 Update will receive build numbers 19043.1586 and 19042.1586.

  • General security update for Windows operating system.
  • Addresses a known issue that occurs when you try to reset a Windows device whose applications have folders that contain repaired data, such as Microsoft OneDrive or Microsoft OneDrive for Business. If you select Delete all, files downloaded from Microsoft OneDrive or synced locally may not be deleted. On some devices, it may take up to seven (7) days after installing this update for the issue to be fully resolved and files gone after a reset. For immediate effect, you can manually activate the Windows Update troubleshooter using the instructions in the Windows Update troubleshooter.

Security updates for Windows 10 (2019 onwards)

The Windows 10 version from the fall of 2019 has received an update: the new build number is 18363.2158 (for version 1909 or November 2019 Update).

Security updates for Windows 10 – version 1809, 1607, 1507
