All Nokia smartphones and tablets will be hosted on the HMD website as of February 1st

HMD-Global-Nokia-Manufacturer

We are aware that HMD Global is the company behind the Nokia brand. Reportedly, the company is undergoing major changes. According to the details, the HMD website will host all the phones and tablets that fall under the Nokia brand. The above-mentioned change will take effect on February 1st. Such steps notify customers of changes in the business strategy and branding. This consolidation makes sense given that HMD has been the owner of the Nokia brand for its phones since 2016, and their deal expires in 2025.

One thing to notice here is that there is no official word regarding the above-mentioned information. The information shared above is based on the updates received by Nokia device owners in the MyApp newsletter. In the meantime, HMD Global is also working to improve its own brand. The company is slowly and gradually abandoning the Nokia brand. As a part of this strategy, the ‘Phone’ section can no longer be found on the official website of Nokia. It is currently accessible via a dedicated link.

According to the report shared by Nokiamob, the “Phone” section will disappear from Nokia’s website on February 1st. All the relevant content will be available on HMD Global. The introduction of hmd.com is proof that HMD is redefining its brand identity, and this modification is a part of that strategy. Products from new partnerships, vintage Nokia phones, and original HMD gadgets are all anticipated to be available on this website.

Besides the website modifications, the social media of HMD Global has also been changed. Notably, the Twitter handle was changed from @nokiamobile to @HMDglobal. Such changes raise concerns regarding the future of Nokia phones and the Nokia community. Perhaps HMD GLObla might limit the presence of Nokia to just a few smartphones per year targeted at various market segments.

In the upcoming weeks, further information about these adjustments, including the possible phase-out of Nokia smartphones, should become available. For Nokia, a once-dominant player in the mobile phone market, this represents a dramatic shift.
