Altcoin Market Opportunities: 4 Cryptos to Watch

Today, there are over 44.15 million unique addresses that have some amount of Bitcoin in them. Unless you live under a rock, then you know all about Bitcoin and its surrounding hype.

It’s great to invest in Bitcoin, but truthfully, it’s not for everyone. Not only is it expensive, but it’s also the most popular type of cryptocurrency, which may not be appealing to people who think outside of the box.

If you want to go off the beaten path, then read on. Here are four cryptos to watch besides Bitcoin.

1. Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum is the best altcoin to purchase since it’s the second-largest crypto after Bitcoin. It was created in 2015 and addresses a lot of issues that Bitcoin has. For example, there are lower transaction fees and the speeds are much faster.

You should also note that in September 2022, ETH went from the proof-of-work (PoW) to the proof-of-stake (PoS) validation method. This means it’s a greener way of mining coins.

In April 2023, 1 ETH is worth $1,840.56, so it’s a decent investment.

2. Tether (USDT)

Tether is a type of stablecoin, which means its value is tied to a currency (the USD). In fact, it’s the first of its kind! Nowadays, there are around 200.

Tether was first launched in 2014 and enables people to use fiat currency digitally in an easier way.

In theory, 1 USDT should always be worth around $1.00. The worth in April 2023 is $1.00, so as of now, that’s fairly accurate.

3. Dogecoin (DOGE)

Dogecoin was first started as a joke, or “meme coin.” It was first created back in 2013 by software engineers who found the current state of the crypto market amusing.

While DOGE was treated as a joke for quite some time, it made a splash in 2021. The price skyrocketed to an all-time high when Elon Musk tweeted about it, saying that Tesla would accept it as payment.

As of April 2023, the current price of 1 DOGE is $0.082.

4. Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB)

The Shiba Inu coin was created in August 2020, so it’s a very new one on the market. An anonymous person or group named Ryoshi created SHIB as a Dogecoin competitor, which is why the same type of dog is featured on this coin.

Like Dogecoin, the Shiba Inu coin is also considered a meme coin. You might’ve seen some Shiba Inu coin info when the founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin donated over 50 trillion SHIB to the India COVID-Crypto Relief Fund.

While the price of SHIB skyrocketed in October 2021, it’s fallen since then and continues to drop in value. As of April 2023, the price of 1 SHIB is $0.00001.
