Atomic Heart

Channel IGN has published an exclusive video with the background of the events of the shooter Atomic Heart. The game takes place in an alternate universe in which the USSR received a technological revolution due to the discovery of the Soviet scientist Dmitry Sergeevich Sechenov in 1936.

In 1950, the USSR became the leading country in the world, and people coexist with robots that help develop the industry, but in 1955 the computer comrades go crazy and the first revolution of robots begins.

All this happened due to the fact that Sechenov was able to create a cold fusion reactor that allows robots to fully function. The USSR began to study space and nature and took the lead in terms of economic indicators after the Second World War.

In 1948, Sechenov even created a collective neural network between humans and robots in order to command mechanisms more conveniently. However, it failed and the automatons began to fight against people. You have to play for Major Nechaev, who works for Sechenov. He has to save humanity.

Atomic Heart launches February 21 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.

Project: The Perceiver

The first trailer for the action game Project: The Perceiver, which takes place in ancient China, has been presented. You will play as a man who escaped death and received magical powers.

The video features many elements of the title’s gameplay: intense fights with ordinary soldiers, parkour through the streets of Chinese cities, a large open world with a lot of settlements, mythical trials, and rather dangerous boss battles. All this is reminiscent of the Ghost of Tsushima, but only in the setting of China.

Engaged in the game Papergames. Players will need to restore order in China, and the game is based on ancient legends and the philosophy of the Celestial Empire. In the comments to the video, players praise the animations and note that it becomes more and more interesting towards the end. Separately, I would like to highlight the boss battle, which, thanks to the frames, resembles films. It was the same in Ghost of Tsushima.

Project: The Perceiver is coming to PS4 and PS5 someday.

Terraria

Terraria is definitely getting its final major update this time around. For the sixth time, the 2D survival sandbox will get the “last” update with a bonus crossover. Terraria 1.4.5 will be released in 2023. Re-Logic is not yet sharing details, but as we already know, the update will include crossover content with Dead Cells. Re-Logic plans to start full development from the beginning of the year after it completes the 1.4.4 patch.

The rest of the details will appear in the coming months, most likely starting in February.

It is worth noting that the update may include crossplay, but it is not yet clear whether this is a major update or will be released earlier.

The developers of Terraria announced the end of active support for the title two years ago, but an update was released five months later. Since then, there has been a crossover with Don’t Starve, and a Labor of Love update came out a couple of months ago. Even Re-Logic herself joked that she couldn’t stop developing the title.

The Callisto Protocol

Ars Technica has released a short video about the creation of The Callisto Protocol. It features a brainstorming game in the Striking Distance Studios office. The head of the studio Glen Scofield himself and Steve Papustis, who was involved in the first Dead Space, along with other team members, are discussing various aspects of the game.

They are concerned about the overall brutality of the game, the illumination of some locations, the balance of ammo and credits, interface design, and much more. This video shows in detail how the meetings of the lead developers work. In the meantime, you can look at the gameplay of horror. It’s especially funny to see how enthusiastically the developers talk about creating realistic blood, “meat” and dismemberment. The creators of the game themselves note that they are doing this because they like it, and not because it is necessary.

And at the end, Glen Scofield explains what it’s like to make a scary game. The Callisto Protocol releases on December 2nd for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. Players will have to go to the distant moon of Jupiter and survive in a prison overrun by monsters.
