Amazon grocery pickup through Prime Now is now possible

Amazon has announced on Tuesday that it introduced grocery pickup through Prime Now device at the two major Whole Foods Stores.

Amazon has started the service limited to two store locations initially, the first two wholefoods available for pickup service includes Sacramento and Virginia Beach locations. The online order will be completed within 30 minutes and the stores will deliver order right to the consumer’s cars.

More stores will be added to the services during the year, says Amazon.

Amazon’s strategy to fill in more whole foods into its system is now expanding its wings, the new service is available on Amazon’s Prime Now app, a part of Amazon’s effort to integrate more whole foods into the system.

According to the statistics, Amazon spent $13.2 billion on purchasing wholefoods during last year. The retail giant has already rolled out Prime Now delivery for wholefoods stores in approximately 36 different cities of the United States, the company also offers 10 percent discount for whole foods in its all US stores. However, this is only available for Prime customers.

Amazon’s decision comes after Walmart the biggest US grocer is expanding its grocery pickup program and builds its online grocery shopping business. For this purpose, Walmart has recently partnered with Microsoft to build its online systems by using Microsoft’s AI and Cloud technology.

Walmart is focused on challenging Amazon’s online grocery business, Amazon Fresh meanwhile Amazon is expanding its grocery pickup programs. The new service will complete the orders faster, save costs and provide much larger selection says Amazon.

Users can have their orders fulfilled within an hour at no additional cost if the orders are at least $35. If the customers are under $35, they will be charged flat $1.99. If the customers want speedy service like orders to be filled in 30 minutes they will be charged $4.99, with no minimum order required.

It’s worth mentioning here that the Prime Now pickup program is separate from AmazonFresh Pickup program, which can be found at two locations in Seattle where Amazon operates for the grocery pickup.
