Amazon Introduces New Fire TV Stick 4K Max

While Amazon is introducing a whole range of its own TV sets in the USA, as expected, we are at least getting a new streaming stick in Europe. The new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max with a new CPU and WiFi 6 support is said to be the best HDMI stick from Amazon so far.

With the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Amazon wants to offer a new, higher-performance streaming stick that can also display high-resolution content without any problems and guarantee smooth navigation through the menus. The performance is said to have increased by up to 40 percent, at least Amazon claims in its press release on the product.

This is made possible, among other things, by a new quad-core SoC with a clock rate of 1.8 gigahertz, which is the previously unknown MediaTek MT8696 with an integrated Imagination Technologies IMG 8300 GPU. The chip is combined with two gigabytes of RAM and 16GB of internal flash memory so that apps should “start even faster and navigation even more smoothly”.

Supports WiFi 6 AX

With the new model, Amazon is also equipping for the first time a FireTV stick with support for WiFi 6 according to the 802.11ax standard, which “enables smooth streaming in 4K”, even when several WiFi 6 devices are in operation. Among other things, the new streaming stick supports 4K UHD, HDR and HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.

With the new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max, customers also receive a new Alexa-enabled remote control, which now has buttons for Prime Video, Netflix, Amazon Music, and Disney +. Of course, the Alexa voice assistant can also be used again with the new remote control and a connection to compatible smart home devices is possible. If you want, you can also use the new remote control with most other Fire TV devices from the 2nd generation Fire TV Stick upwards.

There is a major new feature in terms of the user interface: the users of the new model can, if desired, display external video sources such as security cameras or ring video bells using the picture-in-picture function. But it was not enough for a USB Type-C port – the power is still supplied via a MicroUSB power supply unit.

Amazon is offering the new Fire TV Stick 4K Max for pre-order starting today in Europe. The price is specified at 64.99 euros, with delivery to take place from October 7, 2021.
