AMD formalizes the Ryzen 7000, the new CPUs will arrive at the end of 2022

AMD presented it’s Ryzen 7000 at Computex 2022. The new processors will be based on Zen4 cores engraved in 5 nm at TSMC, as well as I / O Die engraved in 6 nm with the integration of an RDNA 2 GPU. The commercial launch will take place in the fall of 2022.

Like every year, AMD uses Computex to announce some new features. And that’s quite normal: the Taiwanese show is one of the unmissable events for the entire IT market. This year it was mainly the Ryzen 7000s that were eagerly anticipated. We’ve been talking about these components for several months now. And, very fortunately, AMD did not miss this golden opportunity: the American founder has revealed the first part of the technical characteristics of its processors. First information, the Ryzen 7000 will be available this year† The exact date has not been mentioned. But Lisa Su, the boss of AMD, announced that the commercial launch is sometime in… autumn 2022. Either before the end of the year (but also not before the end of September). This doesn’t mean they’ll be widely available, as the component shortage should last at least until the end of the year (even if the tension on manufacturers seems less high).

The Ryzen 7000s rely on Zen4 cores engraved in 5nm

Another novelty of the Ryzen 7000: the I/O Die. It is engraved in 6 nm It contains RDNA2 GPUs for solutions without a dedicated GPU.

It is compatible with DDR5 and PCIe 5.0† A leak last month claimed that processors with the AM5 socket would only be compatible with DDR5. And that is confirmed today. AMD has also provided some additional details about motherboards with this interface. They support up to 4 displays (in HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 2), up to 14 USB Type-C ports, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth LE 5.2. ASRock, Asus, MSI, Biostar, and Gigabyte will be among the first brands to offer AM5 motherboards.
