After AMD presented its RDNA 3 architecture a few weeks ago and the first models of the Radeon RX 7000 series were also shown, further details have now leaked out. The code leak suggests that no RX 7800 XT will be launched.
In addition to the already announced RX 7000 series, AMD would like to offer another series. The RX 7800 series is scheduled to appear next year. While the RX 7900 XTX is based on the Navi 31 GPU, a Navi 32 GPU is likely to be used in the RX 7800 models. Navi 32 is equipped with 60 processing units.
According to Neowin, however, it is unlikely that the chip will be installed in the RX 7800 XT since the predecessor already had twelve additional computing units. The performance should hardly improve. The Navi 32 GPU with 60 CUs should therefore do its work in the normal RX 7800.
For the Radeon RX 7800 XT, there would be the option for AMD to use a Navi 31 GPU with fewer computing units than the RX 7900 XT with 84 CUs. However, such a chip has not appeared in previous leaks, so this possibility is quite unlikely. Thus, AMD would not launch a Radeon RX 7800 XT.
The smallest chip is the Navi 33 GPU. The design is said to be reserved for the Radeon RX 7600 XT. Both Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33 are based on the RDNA 3 architecture. This achieves up to 165 percent higher density of transistors per square millimeter in order to be able to increase the number to a maximum of 58 billion. The pure computing power is up to 61 TeraFLOPs.
