AMD Releases GPU And Chipset Drivers For Windows 11

The chip manufacturer AMD joins Intel and Nvidia and publishes its first drivers for the new Windows 11. Updates for Ryzen chipsets and Radeon Adrenalin graphics card drivers for Microsoft’s upcoming operating system are now available for download.

After the competition started optimizing Windows 11 in July with driver updates for mainboards, graphics cards, and chipsets, AMD is now jumping on the bandwagon. The new AMD chipset driver v3.09.01.140 and the AMD Radeon Adrenalin 21.9.1 software are compatible for the first time with Windows 11, the final version of which will be available on the first PCs on October 5, 2021. The compatibility and possible driver problems can be checked in advance with the help of insider versions of the operating system in the Redmond-based developer and beta channel.

Windows 11 requirements And Its effects

AMD’s new drivers optimize Windows 11 operation for the well-known A320, B350, X370, B450, X470, A520, B550, and X570 chipsets. The high-end desktop offshoots (HEDT) AMD X399, TRX40, and WRX80 are also supported. With regard to the processors, various compromises have to be accepted under Windows 11. Due to the system requirements, there is no support for CPUs of the seventh AMD A-Series, the mobile Ryzen 2000U, and for the Ryzen (Threadripper) 1000 family. Current chips, such as the AMD Ryzen 5000 and Threadripper 3000 series, can, however, be used without any problems.

New graphics card driver with SAM function for Radeon RX 5000

Radeon Adrenalin 21.9.1, on the other hand, not only clears the way for AMD graphics cards under Windows 11 but also brings the new Smart Access Memory technology for the older Radeon RX 5000 GPUs into play. This was previously available exclusively for the combination of AMD Ryzen 5000 processors (Zen 3) and Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards (RDNA 2). Widely known under the name “Resizable BAR”, the function grants full access to the video memory of the cards in order to increase the performance. AMD is also optimizing its new Radeon drivers for the games Deathloop and Call of Duty Vanguard.
