AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is 8% faster than 7800 X3D
The release of new X3D CPUs is imminent. Now, supposed marketing material from AMD has surfaced comparing performance between generations. There are differences in both gaming and multi-threading.
Alleged marketing material leaked
It should happen on November 7th. Then AMD releases the first of its new Ryzen 9000 processors with 3D V-Cache. But there could be an official presentation as early as tomorrow. How VideoCardz Now reported, the portal has got its hands on a supposed presentation slide from AMD for the upcoming Ryzen 7 9800X3D and put it online. In addition to some specifications, two comparison values for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D are also mentioned there.
Better gaming and multi-threaded performance
The new Zen 5 chip delivers a “strong generational boost” in games. The processor is said to deliver around eight percent higher performance than its predecessor, which is popular with gamers. In terms of multi-thread performance, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is said to outperform the 7800X3D by 15 percent.
The 9800X3D’s stated specifications include 96MB of L3 cache with “next-generation 3D V-cache.” In addition, the CPU is said to have significantly better thermal efficiency compared to its Zen 4 predecessor due to the new chip architecture, which enables clock speeds of up to 5.2 GHz. This is the boost value, which puts the 9800X3D 200 MHz above the 5 GHz of the 7800X3D. This information corresponds to other information that was leaked at the beginning of the week.
Compatibility and price
For optimal processor performance, the use of AMD EXPO certified memory is recommended. The 9800X3D is also compatible with all AM5 motherboards, including the new X870 and X870E models, the older X670 and B650 series and the A620 motherboards with BIOS updates.
At some American retailers, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is already available at prices between 484 and 524 US dollars (approx. 445 to 482 euros), making it more expensive than its predecessor. However, AMD recently also reduced the prices of the already released Ryzen 9000 processors without 3D V cache. It is not yet certain what customers will ultimately pay for the new gaming CPU.
