Lenovo notebook with retractable display leaks

After the first concept presentation in 2023, things are now becoming concrete: Lenovo is preparing to launch a ThinkBook Plus with a roll-out display. The unusual notebook design allows the screen to be extended upwards if necessary.
Innovative display concept becomes reality
Lenovo is about to unveil a special notebook that can be described as the “first of its kind”. The new ThinkBook Plus has a roll-out screen that can be extended upwards. We showed the concept a year ago, but now well-known leaker Evan Blass has leaked a whole series of press photos of the previously unpublished device. The market launch is expected at CES 2025, i.e. in a few weeks.

Flexible screen technology for more work space
In its basic state, the device presents itself as a conventional notebook; on the outside you don’t see anything special at first. At the push of a button you can then extend a flexible screen upwards, thereby providing additional work space. This extension enables various multitasking scenarios – such as displaying presentations and documents at the same time or displaying video content separately from one another. The well-known industry insider Evan Blass has now published render images which show Lenovo’s implementation of this new ThinkBook generation (via The Verge). Unlike the current Yoga Book 9i with two separate displays, the manufacturer relies on a continuous but flexible screen surface.
Technical details still open
- Battery capacity: No details about runtime known yet
- Total weight: Effects of rolling mechanics unclear
- Roll-out mechanism: Speed and robustness not specified
- Pricing: Probably premium segment due to the display technology

ThinkBook Plus as an innovation platform
The ThinkBook Plus series traditionally serves as a platform for Lenovo’s experimental designs. Previous models experimented with E-Ink displays or additional screens next to the keyboard. The new rollable display concept could now pave the way for a new generation of flexible notebooks.
