AMD Ryzen 7000: Zen 4 CPUs To Hit September 15

If the new AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop processors were expected earlier in the fall, the release date of the next generation CPU could be pushed forward significantly. An internal AMD presentation should result in the market launch on September 15, 2022.

The US chipmaker spoke just a few weeks ago with a roadmap for its Zen 4 and Zen 5 schedule, which also mentioned a Ryzen 7000 launch in the fall of 2022. The new processors and matching motherboards with AM5 sockets would therefore only be published between the end of September and the end of December. Due to persistent delivery bottlenecks, the long term makes sense, but AMD seems to have already agreed to a fixed date internally.

Previous release date confirmed by local AMD event?

A recently surfaced image from an unspecified AMD event in Asia reveals that September 15, 2022, is the target sales date. Accordingly, the Zen 4 CPUs could appear in late summer, just before their actual release window. It remains to be seen to what extent this date can actually be met. The early launch is recommended to face competitor Intel and its Alder Lake processors (12th core generation) and to close the 1.5-year gap with the popular Zen 3 chips (Ryzen 5000). . Last year, the portfolio was only completed with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, while AMD’s next milestone is now expected.

According to insiders (via Twitter) it offers four Zen 4 processors: Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7800X, and Ryzen 5 7600X. They should not differ from their predecessors in terms of the number of compute cores and thus offer between six and 16 CPU cores, depending on the model. As always, rumors of this nature should be viewed with some skepticism before being officially presented.
