AMD to release more CPUs for AM4 socket

The CPU business is fast-moving. The bases used also change. If you want the latest chips, you always need a new mainboard. It is all the more pleasing for consumers that AMD is now planning additional CPUs for the now eight-year-old AM4.

New CPUs for AM4 socket

Hardly any other socket has received such long-term support as AMD’s AM4. First used in 2016, there are now 20 compatible SKUs in the Ryzen 5000 series alone. A total of over 145 different processors fit on the base. And this number probably won’t stop there. Because how VideoCardz reported, there are now two new entries about previously unpublished CPUs on the websites of motherboard manufacturers such as Asus. The two chips are the Ryzen 5 5600T and the Ryzen 5 5600XT.

Two ‘real’ desktop processors

Both the 5600T and 5600XT are Zen 3 processors from the Vermeer family with six cores and twelve threads and 32 megabytes of L3 cache. Accordingly, the two CPUs are ‘real’ desktop chips such as the 5600 and 5600X and not converted mobile APUs.

However, neither has an integrated graphics unit. The Ryzen 5600XT comes with a base clock of 3.8 GHz, which is 100 MHz higher than the 5600X. The 5600T offers 3.5 GHz. There is no information about the turbo clock yet. Both processors are listed with a TDP of 65 watts.

Not officially presented, but already available

AMD has not yet made an official announcement about the release of the chips. However, the CPUs can already be found on offer at Mindfactory. The 5600XT has been listed and available there since October 1st for 188 euros. The 5600T can be ordered since October 18th for 169 euros.

However, this is nothing too unusual. Many of the processors that have come onto the market in recent years for the AM4 socket were never officially announced by AMD. At some point you will simply find them on the manufacturer’s website and at the dealers. This is probably also the case with the Ryzen 5 5600T and 5600XT. However, the CPUs may be presented together with the new Ryzen 9000 X3D series processors, which will be presented on November 7th.
