Back in January, the tech giant Google unveiled the details of a new AI-powered feature for Android Auto. Reportedly, this feature works by summarizing the messages that are received while driving. Furthermore, it provides several options relevant to the context of messages so that users can carry out the desired action. This function helps you stay focused on the road and avoid accidents by preventing you from diverting your eyes off the road to read those notifications and carry out specified actions.
As of now, the company has revealed that the feature has begun rolling out. There are no details about the roll out method. However, it is expected to be available via an Android Auto app update through the Google Play Store. After updating the app, users will receive a prompt, that ask users about their decision to utilize the Ai-powered feature. If a user desires to use it, then ‘Yes’ option should be selected.
This feature works by summarizing the messages that are above 40 words and are received while using Android Auto. The app will showcase ’Play’ option on the infotainment screen. The summary of the message will play as soon as the option is clicked. Messages that contain less than 40 words will be read out by the app.
In addition to summarizing messages, the feature will create several options based on the context of the message like appropriate replies. Users can also share ETA and live location with the user who messaged them. According to Google, it won’t utilize interactions to train its large language models (LLM) or log any messages or summaries.
