Android Trojans go undetected in the Google Play Store

An analysis by antivirus provider Dr.Web shows that Google has a growing problem with fake apps in the Play Store. This includes apps that pretend to release additional features for WhatsApp, as well as navigation and photos apps. All contain dangerous trojans. Now Dr.Web has a new analysis submitted, which shows how big the problem is with the malware in the Play Store. Security researchers have recently noticed a spate of Trojan infiltrations on the Google Play Store. One of the discovered apps already had more than 500,000 installs. But there is also a resurgence of subscription traps. Subscriptions are closed undetected in the apps, but no service is returned. Some of these apps have made it to the Google Play Store, giving users a false sense of security. Others are distributed in the more traditional ways of Android malware. These include a new Android Trojan in the form of a WhatsApp mod that is offered for download from shady websites promoted through social media posts and forums.
