Apple Confirms New Store Opening in Downtown Detroit

Apple has officially confirmed rumors about opening a new Apple Store in downtown Detroit, with the launch expected as early as this summer. The confirmation comes via a general recruitment notice on the store’s new website. However, specific job listings, the exact opening date, and the store’s precise location remain unconfirmed. Apple simply states that the new store is “coming soon,” without providing additional details on its address.

The store will reportedly feature a custom Apple logo, as seen on the website. Unlike logos for other Apple Stores, such as the recently opened Miami location, this logo is not yet available for download. According to the Detroit Free Press, the new store is believed to occupy two currently closed storefronts between 1426 and 1434 Woodward Avenue.

Once opened, this will be Apple’s fourth store in the Detroit area, joining Apple Twelve Oaks in Novi, Apple Somerset in Troy, and Apple Partridge Creek in Clinton Township. Statewide, it will be the seventh Apple Store in Michigan.

The proposed site for the downtown store is managed by Bedrock Real Estate, which owns the building. Bedrock’s owner, Dan Gilbert, has long advocated for an Apple Store in Detroit, first expressing his hopes for the project back in 2015. Renovation work for the site has been underway since June 2024, with Apple’s presence in Detroit extending to other initiatives like the Apple Developer Academy, which launched in the city in 2021.

The new Apple Store is expected to further contribute to the revitalization of Detroit’s downtown core, which has experienced significant economic growth in recent years. Positioned between a boutique hotel and the former Hudsons building, now General Motors’ headquarters, the store’s opening could serve as another milestone in the city’s ongoing transformation.
