Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch Leaked Renders Are Here

Apple is preparing to launch the next generation of its 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablet. The company made major changes to the tablet last year and it looks like it’s sticking to a similar design this year. 2021 will be a big year for Apple’s iPads as the company has decided to run its laptops on the new ARM-based M1 chip, which makes them similar to tablets in some ways. Thanks to our friend David from @xleaks7, today we are able to show photos and 4K videos of the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 2021.

Dimensions and design of Apple iPad Pro 12.9

The dimensions of the iPad Pro 12.9 2021 remain similar to last year’s version. This year’s iPad Pro is 280.6mm tall by 215mm wide and 6.39mm thick, or 8.43mm if you include how far the photo lens protrudes. It’s almost the same size as last year’s iPad Pro 12.9, which was 280.6 x 214.9 x 5.9mm. The bezels should be slightly smaller, but it doesn’t seem to make a big difference.

That’s not really surprising, however, since Apple doesn’t play around with the design of its tablets every year. The iPad Pro has the flatter design Apple used last year and is quite similar to this year’s iPhone 12 series as well.

The new tablet will have a four-speaker system, USB Type-C port, magnetic Apple Pencil holder on the side and magnetic connectors for Magic Keyboard on the back of the cover. Additionally, Apple could add something like magnetic connectors at the top and bottom edges next to the speaker holes (based on David’s source CAD drawings). It’s pretty cool since Apple doesn’t usually equip iPad Pro withstands to stand upright. It is possible that the company will put these connectors on the bottom for accessories that will work with this device.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 specifications

The new tablet is expected to run on the same chipset as this year’s iPhone 12 models. Apple is unlikely to launch a new processor before the 2021 iPhones, which will be released in the second half of the year. The device should have two cameras on the back, with a LIDAR sensor and flash to accompany them. This suggests that Apple will continue with its trend for augmented reality (AR) capabilities in apps and services.

The screen, of course, will remain at 12.9 inches, and the company is likely to put an OLED display on that too. Apple’s displays have been widely praised by the creator community, which this tablet is intended for, and the company is unlikely to interfere with that.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 release date

The release date of the device is unclear right now, but Apple has always pushed the iPad Pro launch schedule every year. The devices are expected to launch this year at the Worldwide Developer Conference, which is expected to be held in May or June.
