Apple: iPhone 12 Production Expected to Begin in July

According to a DigiTimes report, Apple will complete the second phase of its “EVT” or “Engineering Validation and Testing” stage for its upcoming iPhone 12 lineup in late June and start production of the models in July.

The report’s wording suggests that all 12 iPhone models will enter production next month, but it is unclear whether this will lead to the simultaneous launch of all models. While Apple is likely to announce its iPhone 12 lineup as usual in September, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and others have previously argued that higher-end models with ultra-fast mmWave 5 G support will face a delayed launch due to production challenges.

In particular, Kuo said the production of mmWave iPhones would be “pushed back” in early April due to changes in antenna-in-package design. Support for sub-6GHz 5G is planned for lower-end iPhone 12 models.

Apple iPhone 12 Screen To Come With 120Hz refresh rate

Four new iPhones are expected to be released by Apple later this year, including two iPhone 12 models with 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch displays and two iPhone 12 Pro models with a 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch display. OLED screens, 5G support, and a smaller notch are planned to feature in all four models, while the two higher versions are rumored to receive a LiDAR sensor.
