Apple might not be the first company to use a 2nm processor

The A17 Pro was the first chip that was built on a 3nm processor. It is truly an achievement for Apple. Notably, these chipsets were used by the company in its recent flagship iPhone 15 series. The future chips will be built on the 2nm processor. However, it seems like Apple will no longer retain its position as the first company to use the 2nm processor.

The information is sourced from the tipster Revegnus. He shared the information on X in response to a user’s query that remarked that Apple will be the first to utilize the 2nm processor. According to him, the company’s 2nm chip is postponed. Furthermore, he declared that Android OEMs will be the first to utilize the 2nm processor in their flagships.

Just to make things clear, it is necessary to mention that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is based on a 4nm processor. Besides this, MediaTek and Qualcomm will debut their 3nm flagships in Q4 2024. Notably, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 will be built on the 3nm processor. From this perspective, the 2nm chips might arrive in 2025. For many years, smartphone chips have been excellent. There’s a reason why the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 received such positive reviews. Throughout 2023, its unwavering power and power efficiency demonstrated its worth repeatedly.

The Apple A17 Pro  is quite powerful

The true powers of the Apple A17 Pro are evident in the graphics segment since it can run some console-quality games. We can only wonder what the 2nm processor will deliver. Of course, it could feature improved power efficiency. Perhaps we will not get any further details anytime soon since it will take quite a while to become a reality. On the contrary, we might learn more about the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 in the next few months.
