Apple Music won’t run on rooted Android devices

We have some disappointing news for Galaxy phone and tablet users. Reportedly, the users who are using rooted devices can no longer stream music via the Apple Music app. According to some recent pieces of information, the Cupertino-based tech firm Apple has began checking the root status of Android devices. Notably, the Apple Music app only runs on non-rooted Android-based devices.

The new information was reported by a Reddit user and an X user. Apple Music’s most recent Android beta version (4.7) is determining whether your Galaxy or other Android smartphone is rooted. If so, the music streaming software will display the notice “Apple Music is no longer accessible on rooted devices” and cease to function. Well, this change might no be welcomed by many users. Several Android users root their device in order to make changes to their devices, test things, and disable bloatware.

As far as this restriction is concerned, Apple is not the only company bringing this change. There are several banking and mobile payment apps that are non-operational on rooted Android devices for instance the Samsung Pay/Samsung Wallet app doesn’t work on rooted Galaxy smartphones. In fact, even with Developer Mode enabled on Android smartphones, certain Indian banking apps have ceased to function. Furthermore, Google Messages RCS is unavailable on rooted phones.

The latest beta version of the Apple Music isn’t working on rooted Android devices. It means that this change will be passed on to the stable version of the app in the future. You will thus experience difficulties if you have rooted your Galaxy tablet or phone.
