Apple Officially Announces iPhone Launch Event “Hi, Speed” On October 13

Apple Launch Event

Now it’s official: Apple invited people to present the new iPhone 12 models on October 13 under the tagline “Hi, Speed“. After the event could not take place in September this year, as usual, there will soon be certainty about the new iOS smartphones.

The iPhone event starts on October 13th at 6 p.m. GMT.

“As you know, we started selling new iPhones in September last year. This year we are assuming that the delivery will be available a few weeks later”: Apple CFO Luca Maestri had already made it clear to investors in July with this sentence that they will deviate from the usual schedule this year – probably due to delays in production due to the Corona crisis. Now the group is ready to unveil new iPhone models. Apple held a “Product Launch Event” on October 13th.

As usual this year due to the Corna crisis, the presentation will take place in a live stream, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. GMT. The headline “Hi, Speed” on the press releases could be understood as an indication of the rumored iPhones with 5G support – that the company will unveil such models is almost certain. In addition, the new processor for the iPhone 12 family, the A14 Bionic, was unveiled with the iPad Air 4 and of course, also promises more “speed”. Last but not least, some of the new iPhone models with a 120 Hz panel could offer faster displays.

The previous information

If you believe previous rumors that have manifested themselves over the past few months, Apple is returning this year to a design that is reminiscent of the iPhone 4 from 2010 and was already revealed with the new iPads. The new iPhones will therefore have a significantly more angular appearance. Instead of three models as in previous years, this year the iOS smartphone family is to grow by four models:

  • A 5.4-inch model – rumors speak of the name “iPhone 12 Mini
  • Two models with 6.1-inch displays, one with the hardware of the mini model, one with better hardware
  • A 6.7-inch Pro model
