Apple orders OLED panels from Samsung and LG Display for 2024 iPad models

A new report suggests that Apple has ordered OLED panels from Samsung and LG Display. Reportedly, the order is placed for the upcoming generation of iPad Pro models. The upcoming iPad Pro models are anticipated to arrive in 2024.

According to the report by Business Korea, the tech company Apple has ordered the manufacturing of 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch OLED panels. As per the latest information, Apple has placed orders with the two above-mentioned companies. Where the Chinese company BOE was eliminated. Samsung display unit will start working on the development of OLED panels. The panels for iPad will be manufactured at the sixth-generation [1500mm x 1850mm] line of Samsung.

Besides this, another new source Economic Daily from Korea claims that tech firm Apple has not settled the volume of the order yet. However, there is a possibility that the company divides the order equally between the two Korean companies.

Apple is working on the development of 11.1-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad pro models. Ross Young claims that the new iPad Pro models are expected to be introduced in Q1 2024. Well, it is uncertain why the display dimensions mentioned in the Korean reports are contradictory. Some previous sources claimed that Apple will introduce larger 11.1-inch and 13-inch screens for the new OLED iPad Pro models. They were rumored to be introduced with slim bezels instead of a modification in the size of the product.

Currently, the company has introduced a 12.9-inch mini-LED ‌iPad Pro‌ and an 11-inch ‌iPad Pro. They are presented with a traditional LCD display. Besides this, the mini-LED is retained for the higher-end ‌iPad Pro‌ model. Given the 2024 update, the company could take back the feature resemblance between the two ‌iPad Pro‌ models.

In addition to this, the launch of a new MacBook accompanied by an OLED display is also under question. Recent reports indicate that the new OLED 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will debut in 2026. However, Mark Gurman claims that a MacBook Pro with an OLED display could arrive in 2025. Furthermore, it could be the first-ever touchscreen Mac.

Moreover, Young Ross indicates that Apple is working on a 13-inch MacBook Air with an OLED display. it could be introduced in 2024 with the new OLED iPad Pro models. The claim by Young is also supported by Ming-Chi Kuo [supply chain analyst of Apple]. Kuo is also of the view that the first MacBook with an OLED could launch next year.
