Apple Reportedly Puts Next iPhone Air on Hold, Delaying Successor to 2027

As is well known, Samsung is having a hard time with the answer to the iPhone Air. Things don’t seem to be going well with Apple’s ultra-thin smartphone either, as Apple has reportedly put the successor to the iPhone Air on hold.

Apple is putting the brakes on the next iPhone Air

Apple has reportedly abandoned previous plans for a direct successor to the iPhone Air. The current model, with which the US computer company could start a possibly not particularly long-lasting trend towards particularly thin smartphones, is said to have sold anything but satisfactorily.

Most recently it was heard that production volumes at contract manufacturers were massively reduced on Apple’s instructions. Now the magazine reports The Information citing sources close to Apple, that the plans for the second generation iPhone Air are canceled for the time being. A new model was supposedly planned for fall 2026, in which Apple wanted to offer a lower weight and a larger battery. Furthermore, the integration of a vapor chamber cooling system was supposedly planned, as Apple has been using it since this year with the most recently introduced iPhone 17 Pro.

Apparently a new iPhone Air is no longer expected for 2026 because Apple has postponed work on the new model indefinitely. Instead, an iPhone Air should probably not be expected again until spring 2027 at the earliest. It is said that Apple is initially relying on a changed launch strategy for the coming year.

The iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone are scheduled to come onto the market in autumn 2026. According to reports, the “regular” iPhone 18 and the new “savings version” iPhone 18E will not follow until spring 2027. As mentioned, the iPhone Air “2” or iPhone 18 Air may also celebrate its premiere.
