We recently heard that iPhone 6S wouldn’t get the new iOS. But it turned out that the company is changing its decision and bringing the iOS update for this iPhone series – iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, and first-generation iPhone SE. This update for the series would come in this fall.
Apple released the iPhone 6S series around 6 ago. The series initially came out with iOS 9 and is now moving towards the new iOS 15.
Six years is quite a long time for any device, and we usually don’t see companies rolling out the latest updates to such old smartphones. But Apple is sending its love for those still holding on to the iPhone 6S series.
Talking about the update, we learned that some new features wouldn’t work with the iPhone 6S due to its compatibility. Such features like the Google Lens-Esque Visual Lookup, Live Text in photos, portrait mode in FaceTime, and immersive walking directions in Maps won’t work with this series. They all require an A12 Bionic chip and the XS and XR or later.
The things iPhone 6S owners could expect to get from this iOS 15 include notification summaries and Focus modes to minimize interruptions throughout the day, video and music sharing in FaceTime, and added privacy features like a seven-day app privacy report to keep tabs on how apps are using your information.
