Apple To Reduce iPhone 12 5G Costs With Cheaper Battery Replacement

iphone 12

Although Apple has not even confirmed the release date of the iPhone 12 at present, various revelations circulating on the basic network have already made the new features of the iPhone 12 public.

There is no doubt that the core reason why iPhone 12 has such a high degree of attention is to provide support for 5G for the first time, and it is what many fruit fans are waiting for.

But 5G does not come out of thin air, but a substantial increase in hard costs. In order to reduce the cost of 5G, the iPhone 12 may shrink the battery, cancel the charger, or even not include the headset.

In order to ensure the consistently high profit margin of Apple’s iPhone, is Apple’s iPhone 12, which is manufactured by dismantling and supplementing the west, really worth buying?

5G costs are not cheap

Guofen’s old friend and well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released the latest report saying: iPhone 12 series only 5G accessories may increase Apple’s single cost by $125.

Specifically, Apple is expected to increase the cost of the iPhone 12 to support sub-6GHz 5G to $75, while the version that supports mmWave 5G will increase to $125.

Among all 5G accessories, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G baseband is the most expensive. The chip supports SA/NSA dual-module network mode and can reach a download rate of up to 7Gbps.

Previously, there were rumors that the lowest iPhone 12 model price will remain the same as the previous generation.

What needs to be emphasized here is that the sales price of the previous generation iPhone 11 terminal generally dropped by more than 1,000 yuan. If the iPhone 12 maintains the same official price as the previous generation product, it will actually be a disguised price increase.

Large shrinkage of battery capacity

In order to cope with the sharp increase in costs, Ming-Chi Kuo also said that Apple may downgrade batteries and printed circuit boards, and at the same time exert price pressure on suppliers to further control costs.

Previously, information leaked by South Korean certification agencies showed that the iPhone 12 does have a capacity shrinkage of nearly 30%, which may also be caused by the implantation of 5G chips to occupy space.

However, foreign digital experts have already gotten the real machine for the actual testing, and the battery life of the iPhone 12, which has shrunk by nearly 30%, has increased by 3 to 4 hours compared to the previous generation. This is mainly due to the power of the 5nm process A14 chip, and the progress of the process technology has brought lower power consumption. But then again, wouldn’t it be better if it could be equipped with a larger battery?

Charge head headset cancel

In addition to starting in places that are not easy for users to notice, there are rumors that iPhone 12 will also cancel the included charging head and EarPods headset.

Apple’s unchanged “5V1A” ancestral charging head has been complained by many users. This time it will be cancelled directly to see what you say. As for earphones, the analysts believe that it is to stimulate sales of AirPods series wireless earphones.

Fundamentally speaking, it is all about reducing costs. However, there are some opinions that a large number of repeated charging heads are undoubtedly a waste of resources.

In addition, with the advent of wireless fast charging, traditional wire charging methods will be gradually eliminated. It seems that there is some truth to what I said carefully, so where can I get the wireless fast charge without cost?

Is iPhone 12 worth it?

Controlling costs is not an absolute bad thing. After all, while ensuring sufficient profits and good experience, prices will become more reasonable.

We might as well look at it the other way around. If it were not for these exquisite cost controls, then the price of the iPhone would have gone to heaven a long time ago and it would have lost its competitiveness.

Therefore, the past generations of the iPhone are the product of cost game, and it is very subtle.

As for the question of whether the iPhone 12 is worthwhile, there is no standard unified answer. But if it is for me to choose, I might choose the next generation of iPhone 12.

After all, the cost of the first-generation 5G version is indeed a bit high, and the current demand for 5G is not urgent. By next year, these conditions may be greatly improved. With so many people looking at the iPhone 12, I think I should not join in the fun. Besides, even if I bought 12, I still plug in a 4G card and use a 4G package, because 97.46% of my time is in the office or at home, so why bother to buy a 5G.
