Apple is all set to shut down its service “My Photos Stream” on July 26, 2023. This feature will most likely be unavailable after that, so the users who are still using it need to shift to iCloud photos along with their data.
My Photos is a free streaming service that uploads the last 30 days of images to iCloud and makes them accessible through your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. This feature was replacing the iCloud Photos service at a high level.
Apple intends to switch all users over to iCloud Photos from My Photo Stream going forward. On June 26, 2023, My Photo Stream will stop accepting new photo uploads. Until that time, photos will continue to be stored in iCloud for 30 days as usual.
There is no risk of losing photos during the shutdown process because every image in My Photo Stream is saved on at least one Apple device in its original format. Apple advises users who want their photographs on a specific device to save them to the device’s Photo Library by July 26.
Opening the Photos app, heading to the My Photo Stream album, choosing individual photos, and then using the Share button to save them to the library will save images from My Photo Stream to the Photos app on the iPhone. On a Mac, the procedure is the same, but you must drag pictures from My Photo Stream into the Library.
Apple advises iPhone, iPad, and Mac customers to enable iCloud photographs so they may view their photographs and videos on all of their connected devices. On iPhones, iPads, and Macs running OS X Yosemite or later and iOS 8.3 or later, iCloud Photos is available.
