Apple To Use Mini-LED In New MacBook Pro Expected In September

After some dates for the possible ‘presentation’ of a new MacBook Pro have already passed, experts say it should be ready in September. Apple could then equip its new macOS notebooks with mini LED displays and more connections, among other things.

As the industry magazine Digitimes reports, Apple is currently commissioning its suppliers with the production of a new MacBook Pro. The report primarily shows that the US manufacturer is on a shopping spree for mini-LED contingents that would be suitable for its laptops. Earlier OLED speculation would be off the table. For a long time, the rumor mill has been talking about new Pro models that are to be presented in 14- and 16-inch format. The insiders assume that the availability of new MacBooks in September or October seems realistic.

New design, more connections, MagSafe, and more

According to forecasts, the MacBook Pro 2021 will be the biggest redesign in recent years. As is typical for Apple, the recognition value should be retained, but the look should move closer to the iPhone and iPad portfolio. One speaks of an angular look with flat side edges and an extension of the interfaces. For the latter, HDMI, an SD card reader, and even conventional USB-A ports along with the modern USB-C are under discussion. The MagSafe power connector, whose “brand” has already been reused for wireless iPhone charging accessories, is also set to celebrate a comeback.

According to insiders, a striking feature could be missing in the MacBook Pro models – the touch bar. Contrary to Apple’s ideas, the LED bar above the keyboard should not be very popular and should be replaced by classic function keys (F1-F12). There is also speculation about a new processor that could be installed in the form of a further developed Apple M1 chip (e.g. M1X or M2). It is to be expected that further MacBook leaks will follow in the run-up to an autumn presentation. Until then, rumors of this kind should be viewed with a certain amount of skepticism.
