Apple Would Replace old iPhone Batteries Regardless of Diagnostic Test Outcomes

Apple has begun providing battery replacements for $29, a month prior to the promised date, after an apology letter to the customers relating the slowing down of older iPhones as the batteries age.
However, the company did not clarify that how would it be declaring any battery eligible for the replacement on the discounted price, as the Apple Genius Bar makes the use of a diagnostic test for checking that whether a battery could retain eighty percent of its original capacity at five hundred complete charge cycles.

This led to some confusion last week when some Apple users complained that they were refused the battery swap as their batteries passed the diagnostic test.

Apple has recently confirmed this to the MacRumors that it would provide replacement on an iPhone 6 or later models, whether or not a diagnostic test result indicates that the battery retains less than eighty percent of its original capacity.

The clarification was unveiled after Apple released an internal memo relating the new replacement policy, adding that the customers who paid $79 for a battery replacement earlier are eligible for a refund in the price difference that is of $50.

Apple would not be considering the battery condition in the replacement offer, but it is noteworthy that it might not provide the battery replacement if it finds any other damage to the phone or if there would be any third-party components detected inside the device.

Apple’s slowing older phones is a long-held news and this recent revelation has led to many more action lawsuits.
