Apple’s Head of iCloud to leave the company by the end of April

Apple has recently gone through several changes. Apple has lost people over some of its main posts. By the end of January, Apple had lost its top service executive, Peter Stern. Now its all up for the loss of another main position of one of the top executives, the chief of cloud services.

As per reports from Bloomberg, Michael Abbott, the overall head of all services related to the cloud, is all set to leave the company by the end of April. These iCloud services, like iCloud, iMessage, Facetime, and many more, are under his command.

Michael Abbott is planning to leave the company, which will not be just another resignation but will create a hole in the company’s management. All these changes are in response to Peter Stern’s departure. After he left, Apple has distributed his responsibilities over three different divisions.

Michael Abott is working as a backbone for Apple’s iCloud services. Services like iCloud.com, iCloud Mail, iCloud data encryption, Emergency SOS on the iPhone, and the Cloud Kit go along with the infrastructure behind iCloud, iMessage, and Facetime. Other than these services, he was also managing privacy and security engineering for Apple’s services.

He is about to leave the post after performing the role for 5 years, which is followed by the vesting of his AAPL shares.

Apple’s services division, headed by Eddy Cue, posted its biggest ever revenue for its Q1 2023 earnings with $20.8 billion during the holiday season, despite the fact that it will have its work cut out for it to fill Abbott’s significant role.

The replacement for Jony Ive, Evans Hankey, left the company in October; we later learned that Apple had opted to eliminate the position of “industrial design chief” in February.

And immediately before that, Apple sacked its vice president of procurement for making some obscene comments in a popular TikTok video.
