ASUS ROG 5S Could be the Second Smartphone to Come with Snapdragon 888+

ASUS is planning to release the ASUS ROG 5S on August 16th. The big news about this smartphone is the use of the latest Snapdragon 888+ SoC.

As of now, only Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 (released August 10) carries this new Snapdragon 888+. This Xiaomi device is already in the news with an under-display camera and this new SoC.

Anyways, there is no other smartphone (as of now) to carry this chipset (not to our knowledge). So it would be a big thing for the company and the company must have high hopes with its upcoming ASUS ROG 5S.

However, there’s a catch – the ROG 5S is superseding the ROG 5, launched in April 2020. We are hearing rumors that this device will see only one upgrade, i.e., chipset from Snapdragon 888 to Snapdragon 888+.

Moreover, we heard that this new model will have only two variants in terms of memory configuration – 16GB of RAM + 256GB of storage and 18GB of RAM + 512GB of storage (look at the size of the RAMs).

Other leaks about this ASUS OG 5S include:

  • A 144 Hz OLED display
  • A 6,000 mAh battery
  • 65W fast charging support
