The Taiwanese PC manufacturer Asus is bringing a kind of “super surface” onto the market at CES 2022 with the ROG Flow Z13. The 2-in-1 tablet should not only be used productively, but it should also be able to be used anywhere as a gaming platform. The technical requirements of the Asus ROG Flow Z13 are very good. On the one hand, the tablet has a large 13-inch display with a 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and stylus support, a maximum brightness of up to 500 candelas, and a refresh rate of a maximum of 120 Hertz, on the other hand also strong hardware inside.
An Intel Core i7-12900H, a mobile high-end chip from the new “Alder Lake” family with 14 computing cores, provides plenty of power, while Nvidia provides a GeForce 3050Ti additional graphics chip, which makes most games mobile. Asus also installs a PCIe 4.0 SSD up to a terabyte in size and lets the entire package run quietly thanks to an elaborate vapor chamber cooling that covers 44 percent of the motherboard area.
The capacity of the battery is decent at 56 watt-hours so that several hours of mobile gaming should be possible. Support for WiFi 6E and Dolby Atmos are also on board. The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is in a completely metal case and weighs around 1.1 kilograms. The manufacturer also offers a keyboard cover with RGB lighting, the keys of which should offer a travel of 1.7 millimeters. Only the price is not yet available, although prices above the 2000 euro mark are likely given the features.
