At IDEA 2023, Samsung received a record number of awards for product design
In accordance with recent pieces of information, the South Korean conglomerate has received 50 awards at IDEA 2023. The news was shared by the company via its official blog. IDEA is the world’s most famous international design competition. It is abbreviated for International Design Excellence Awards. A total of 50 awards were secured by Samsung. Of the total 50 awards, 1 silver prize, 3 bronze prizes, and 46 finalist prizes were grabbed by the South Korean tech firm. It is the highest number of awards for any company at IDEA.
Samsung Electronics grabbed awards for several innovations in products, including TVs, home appliances, UX services, and smartphones. Since 1980, the event has been hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). It bestows awards in accordance with innovation, user satisfaction, and societal contribution.
The awards this year spanned 20 different categories, ranging from design strategy, consumer technology, and digital interfaces to industrial products. Given the several functions and customizable features of Samsung’s Bespoke Air dresser, it received the Silver prize. Other bespoke appliances like washing machines and dryers, water purifiers, and robot vacuum cleaners were awarded Bronze prizes. For the premium and innovative designs of the company’s Neo QLED TV, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Book 3 Pro received the Finalists Awards.
According to TM Roh, president of Samsung Electronics’ Design Management Center, “We will keep striving to make initiatives to improve the lives of our consumers with designs that are in unison with conservation efforts as well as designs that are loyal to the original intent and objective of the product.”
