AVM starts Updates For Fritzbox auto channel mode

Enhanced WiFi and Stability for FritzBox Models

AVM has introduced new laboratory updates for several FritzBox routers, focusing on WiFi enhancements and improved system stability. Here’s an overview of the devices receiving these upgrades and what users can expect.

Updates for Key FritzBox Routers

Owners of FritzBox models 5690 Pro, 6690 Cable, and 6670 Cable can now benefit from the latest updates. These updates address various technical issues and improve overall performance:

  • FritzBox 5690 Pro: This flagship model receives a critical fix targeting a WiFi bug that previously caused disconnections for users operating Multi-Link Operation (MLO) with WPA2 and without Protected Management Frames (PMF).
  • FritzBox 6690 and 6670 Cable: For these cable models, AVM has optimized the auto-channel mode for radar detection (DFS). This improvement helps reduce interference with other wireless systems, maximizing WiFi performance. System stability has also been enhanced across all three models for more reliable operation.

AVM’s Fritz Laboratory Program

These updates are part of AVM’s Fritz Labor program, which invites tech-savvy users to test new features and improvements before they’re incorporated into the final FritzOS version. This program plays a vital role in identifying and addressing potential issues early in the development process.

How to Access the Updates

FritzBox users can install these updates in two ways:

  1. Automatic Update: Search for available updates in the FritzBox settings.
  2. Manual Installation: Download and install the update directly from the AVM website.

Download and Feedback

Users with FritzBox models not bound to a specific provider can download the update immediately. AVM provides download links, tips, and an overview of the new features for FritzOS 7.90 on their laboratory website. AVM also encourages participants to share feedback to improve future releases.
