Baidu releases 5 new ERNIE models

By significantly improving its Qianfan platform, Baidu AI Cloud is attempting to establish itself in the AI market. The most significant part of this update is the release of five new ERNIE models. The traditional LLMs require massive computing power. The following ERNIE models can be found under the Qianfan ModelBuilder platform. First and foremost, we have the ERNIE Speed. It is an expert at understanding context. It is capable of producing extremely accurate and well-written content. This model analyzes context windows of up to 128,000 tokens, allowing it to easily handle complicated situations. ERNIE Speed can even match the performance of the best ERNIE models in certain domains.

Next one is the ERNIE Lite. It is an updated version of the ERNIE Bot Turbo which features a 20% increase in performance tasks like natural reasoning, multi-tasking learning, and sentiment analysis. It features a startling 53% decrease in inference expenses. Because of this, ERNIE Lite is perfect for use with even the most basic AI accelerator cards.

ERNIE Tiny is the lightest and affordable model of this series. It is perfect for low-latency and cost-effective scenarios. It offers excellent performance in areas like recommendation, retrieval, and intent recognition. In conversational recommendation experiments, ERNIE Tiny demonstrated remarkable capacity to provide search engine keywords, increasing dialogue exchanges by 3.5% above ERNIE 3.5 while reducing expenses by 32%.

Besides the general models, there are two specific models: ERNIE Character and ERNIE Functions. With the help of ERNIE Character, companies can create non-playable characters (NPCs) for video games. It can also be used to develop intelligent chatbots for customer service. The ERNIE Functions, on the other hand, is specified for companies that require the incorporation of external tools or internal features. With the help of this model, the process can be streamlined.

In addition to this, the Qianfan AppBuilder toolkit has been improved with the addition of 55 new tools dedicated for developing AI-native apps. 80,000 enterprises have already been facilitated by the Qianfan platform. Since December 2023, Qianfan’s daily usage has increased by an astounding 97% quarter over quarter, firmly establishing the platform as a major force in AI model development.
