Barcelona, March 2nd: Naver, the South Korean internet giant, is unleashing its artificial intelligence-based assistant ‘Clova’ as a rival of Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
At the Mobile World Congress (2017), the dominating South Korean internet corporation Naver revealed its artificial intelligence-based assistant – Clova or Cloud Virtual Assistant.
“Clova is a platform that incorporates various AI technologies including vocal, visual and conversational engines,” said Idezawa Takeshi, CEO, LINE Corp.
Naver is working with its subsidiary LINE to develop this AI-based assistant. With their own technologies, the companies are working to improve the voice recognizing system.
Clova will be integrated with their existing mobile and web services. LINE has around 217 million followership as of now.
Naver also announced that they’ll be working with Sony, LG Electronics, and Takara Tomy (the largest smart toy maker in Japan). Using the Clova platform, these companies will release their new smart products soon.
“We will release Clova in Korea and Japan first because the two countries have diverse databases and content,” the spokespersons from Naver and Line said in a statement. We will gradually expand to Asia and other global markets to build an ecosystem for the platform business.”
